Here is a wonderful pair of pastorals, probably European, that are dated 1886. These oils on canvas are signed by H. Steffens, a German artist who specialized in pastoral paintings. These paintings are not damaged and are framed in rosewood. These are probably the original handmade frames, and they have a lovely patina to them.
